AE #5 Pink Slime....Rather Not
I wonder why I always feel like I will be less amazed at the actions the government takes or doesn't. I feel like consuming food now days is as harmful as smoking cigarettes. Cancer is CANCER! Duh! How do they get away with it??? Who is the one getting away with anything? Why are you letting them do it to you. The FDA has passed probably the worst laws in America than anywhere in the world regulating their peoples consumption of food and quality!!!!!
Damn the word Quality... What does that mean to us anymore. Just usually that if you pay more its better or cooler or whatever. Sadly smaller farmers do have to charge more for their organic food. The FDA allows food to pretty much say whatever they want and to the human consumer it is up to you to investigate. I think of it like 2 clear bottles exactly the same, with the same amount of liquid in each. One bottle has vodka and the other has water. If you were allergic to alcohol and you were dying of dehydration.
wouldn't you investigate what you are about to put into your body before you put it in????? You are allowing another person control of killing you. Would you stand there and let someone shoot you if you could dodge and run???? If there was a proper market for REAL food than the FDA wouldn't get the paycheck.
If schools cared about the food they were giving their students then the burden of food cost would also be on them. Hmmmm... makes me wonder why we have people like that in charge of our nations food and our children's health. I do not have children but I know that if I did, I would want the very best for their health and I think a lot of parents need to step up and take care of themselves and their children the way our bodies need us to. I hope more people speak about the importance of the quality of food you eat. I pray that the world puts its emergency brake on with what we are doing to ourselves, but until that day, changing one persons life a day has an incredible OUTCOME!

AE# 4 The Living Dead
Appalled at all that I see in this nation. From things so big as global warming and the treatment of others to the food we feed our people. Sustainable farming has always been my personal dream. When I ask my friends what they want to do: all of them would direct their lives in the form of MONEY. I would say that choosing a life in sustainable farming is not a field of dollar bills but my quality will be in life and health.
Our society has developed our country with our eyes set on money as power instead of a true or hopeful goal as the means of power. I love when I hear people say others are "sell outs," to me anyone shopping at Walmart is a "sell out." I myself feel like I have to shop at Walmart because it is closest to my house, and I only have to go to one place. This is the same feeling we all feel or else Walmart would be dead.
It is sad that we as the people of America are just trying to live our lives and save money so we can pay our bills and pay for gas to get to work to have the money to pay for life. We set up our society on the dependence of a paper object. Yuck. What is even worse is we know this and we continue to dig deeper and deeper. We could be digging deeper into fertile soil and living the way nature intended us to live.
It is sad that we as the people of America are just trying to live our lives and save money so we can pay our bills and pay for gas to get to work to have the money to pay for life. Nature supplies all of our needs. Have we ever thought of it that way? Nature supplies an organism to treat and cure every possible problem. We have created our own unnatural problems and rely on what to treat these problems? Nature, but how is nature supposed to treat a problem it didn't make? We wonder why our world is deteriorating but we fail to realize we created our damnation.
I think there is a bigger picture and instead of accepting our faults and tearing down nuclear power plants and instead of relying on what nature has already given us: to lead a life of good air, good food, and good fellowship, we continue to ruin our future lives for the DOLLA DOLLA BILL!!!!
This problem is hundreds of years old and we now have more technology than ever before and the capability of communicating across the world to fix our problems, but cannot decide on something to do? I know why Native Americans were so quick to die for the land they inhabited, because they knew that if WASPS took it over it was better to be dead, than live with the cancers and unhealthy air cycling through our bodies: making us the living dead.
Toubled
Is this what we have become? A generation of idiots; people living at a precise time period together, that go through the same events while being mentally handicapped. I feel like Einstein is on to something but not quiet sure it is about my generation. I do not know if the children that are being born in my lifetime are the generation Einstein speaks of, but today human interaction and compassion are just as important as they were before.
Tell me why: there are a few African-American students in one of my Women Across Cultures class discriminating against homosexuality? Is this not the type of behavior that their ancestors, even possibly they're mothers and fathers had to deal with?
Some people recognize the hardships of life and some focus so far up their own ass they cannot even see that they are carrying on behaviors that remove equality out of life. I guess I really don't understand anything about this life we live.
This life needs change and for all of you thinking the president is the one responsible for all the change in the U.S. get off your LAZY ass and do something to help him. WE the people. It is OUR nation. Not just the presidents nation.
P.S. Think of it this way: Anyone with the balls to say that they will take responsibility for YOUR actions and represent YOUR actions to the WORLD is a stand up person regardless of political party.
